Obituary for Alice Jane Mitchell (Whitt)

Alice “Jane” Mitchell, devoted wife and loving mother went to be with her Lord and Savior after her valiant battle with cancer on Friday, November 6th. Born in Enid, Oklahoma on Feb. 12, 1942 – Jane was raised with her family in Fort Worth, TX where she graduated from North Side High School. She married Ken Mitchell on Dec. 14, 1963. She attended Central Christian Church in Fort Worth for more than 40 years, where she volunteered to help with the youth program, as well as sing in the choir.
After the raising of her two children, Jane later worked as the Head Cashier at Texas Wesleyan University for 30 years. Known for her loving heart and generosity, several memorial markers for the campus library were purchased in her name by grateful students.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, R.L Whitt, and Oleta Holland Whitt, her brother Kenneth L. Whitt and sister Evelyn Whitt Yeats. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years Kenneth E. Mitchell, daughter Karri L. Hogan and husband Barry Hogan, son Chad E. Mitchell, grandchildren Tabatha and Tristan Hogan, sister Ruth Ann Parham, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Jane’s generous spirit, loving heart and infectious laughter were an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished as her family is comforted in the knowledge that Jane is now in the presence of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held at the First Christian Church in Paradise, TX on Saturday, November 28st at 2:00 PM.
