Special tribute written by his daughter, Dawn:
My dad was quite a character, sometimes a bit ornery, but that was all part of his charm. He was a very passionate person, whether it was about his views, stories from his long career at Southwestern Bell or his time in the Navy. That passion was also given to his many hobbies, fixing computers, genealogy, corvettes, model train collection, maintaining a beautiful yard, building things, and fixing grandfather clocks. He had the same passion for his family and friends, if you were ever in his heart, you would remain there.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. My mom was the love of his life; they celebrated 50 years of marriage this September. Shane and I were his pride and joy and he embraced Kim and Bob and loved them as one of his own. He loved his grandchildren, Colton and Eisley, very much. They brought him so much joy. There is nothing he wouldn’t have done for any of us.
I always loved how he would greet me when he answered my call. I would get a cheerful “hello sweetheart “! You could see him beaming over the phone. I’d ask how he was and he’d reply “I’m so good, I can’t stand it”! While we didn’t expect his journey to come to this and we certainly weren’t ready to say goodbye, we can take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and eternally feeling like that cheerful greeting he would give. We already miss you dearly and love you so much, dad!
There will be a memorial with military honors to be announced in the near future. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Healthcare of Texas in Bryan Foley’s name.
