Carole Dolores Crowson Southworth died at Medical City Arlington on March 25, 2021. Carole was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on August 22, 1950, the oldest child of Fred and Dolores Crowson. Her family moved to Texas not long after her birth and Carole grew up most of her life in South Texas, especially in the Rio Grande Valley and Houston. Carole attended Gregory-Portland High School in Portland, Texas and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Women’s University.
Shortly after graduation, Carole met her husband, Greg Southworth, and the two were married on September 1, 1979. Carole gave birth to two beautiful daughters, Lauren, then Lindsey, while the couple lived in Houston. The couple lived in areas of South Texas, West Texas, and Washington state before returning to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2004. Carole worked briefly in the mental health world in an administrative capacity before retiring to spend time raising her daughters and supporting her family emotionally. Family was a primary concern for Carole. She spoke often of her immediate family and her sisters and brother and the role of her extended family in her life.
Carole was very talented when it came to home designs and interior decorations. Someone once said she should have been Martha Stewart before Martha Stewart. Carole’s family contains many artistically inclined people and home decorations was Carole’s strength. She leaves behind many creative contributions to her family, both immediate and extended.
Carole was proceeded in death by her parents, Fred and Dolores Crowson, her grandmother and grandfather, William and Ruth Connally, her brother Tom Crowson, and many aunts, uncles, and relatives about whom Carole felt a great sense of connection. Carole is survived by her husband of 41 years, Greg Southworth, her daughters Lauren Southworth Davis and Lindsey Southworth, along with her son-in-law, Joel Davis, and her young grandsons Sean and Spencer Davis, all of Arlington, TX and her sisters Gail Crowson Allen and Jane Crowson Stubbs of the Corpus Christi, TX area. In addition, Carole was survived by George and Virginia Griffith of St. Simons Island, GA, George being a cousin with whom she shared her childhood.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Communities in Schools Dallas Region.
