Obituary for Cecil Calvin Moon

November 29, 1944 to January 11, 2021

Motorcycle enthusiastic, Army veteran, career police officer, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Cecil Calvin Moon, 76, of Fort Worth, died peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2021.

Cecil, son of the late Lonnie and Grace Hitt, is survived by his wife of almost 27 years, Linda Shipp Moon. He is also survived by his children, Roger Moon of Center Point, TX; Lorri Moon of Sante Fe, NM; Lana Moon of Rhome, TX; and Matthew Moon of Pittsburgh, PA; his stepchildren Courtney Utter, Whitney Mock, and Taylor Morris; his grandchildren Erika Moon, Bret Dickerson, Jr., and Jana McKee, Levi Beauchamp; and his great-grandchildren: Wyatt Pack and Katherine Dickerson.

Cecil was a proud member of the Fort Worth Police Department for 33 years. Count yourself lucky if you ever heard one of his legendary beat stories in his thick Texas accent. The family will have a memorial celebration of his life at a later date, when the time is appropriate. He donated monthly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital; in lieu of flowers, please continue his kindness in the form of a donation, or to the Fort Worth Police benevolence fund.
