This is the story of Cynthia Parkman Cropp. Cindy was born to Earl and Lillian Parkman November 20, 1951.
She grew up with her sisters Susan and Lillie, and her brother Bryan. Cindy was raised in Ft. Worth and was proud to call “Cowtown” home.
She attended the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green!) where she completed her degree in marketing. After college, she met the love of her life, Edward Cropp, while managing a home goods store called Harbingers. His persistence in pursuing her affection paid off, and they got married on March 14, 1976 and began their life together.
Cindy and Ed got the surprise of their life a couple of years later when they found out they were having twins! Carl and Jennifer arrived with much fanfare and excitement, including Cindy flying in a small private plane with her doctors (owned by the local feed store owner in Nacogdoches), to a hospital with a NICU in Shreveport. Cindy gave her all to her children. She and Ed raised Carl and Jennifer to keep an open mind, to care for others, and to work hard. Cindy was a bonus mom to her nieces and nephews and cared for them deeply.
She was a light to all who knew her and went out of her way to show empathy and compassion. Cindy was active in 12 step recovery and sponsored countless people over the years, helping them to find hope and healing. She founded a 12 step group in Silsbee, TX. over 30 years ago, and that group is still going strong today.
Cindy was an amazing cook and shared her love through cooking. Her gumbo was her family’s favorite! She had a rock n’ roll soul and a feisty spirit and will be missed forever. Cindy loved her grandchildren fiercely and was so proud of them.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Cropp; her children, Carl Cropp and his wife, Nikki, and Jennifer Medlin and her husband, Jason; her grandchildren, Parker, Chloe, Destiney, Breon, and Ellinor; and her sister, Susan Parkman Doyle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memorial to Operation Kindness, a no-kill animal shelter. Cindy had a heart for rescuing animals. https://www.operationkindness.org/make-a-memorial-gift/
