Obituary for Dolores Allen

Dolores (Dee) Ann Allen passed away peacefully in her sleep on December the 15th, 2019.
She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 9th, 1929.

She had a successful career in laboratory technology, as a nurse with Parkland Hospital in Dallas, administrator for the Center for Breast Care and as a coordinator with the Consultants in Radiology as well as several clinical facilities. She later worked at home performing medical transcription for many doctors before electronic medical records resulted in mandatory retirement.

Among her varied interests, she was a member of the Fort Worth Book Club and Women’s Club of Fort Worth well over three decades. She was also the proprietor of ”The Added Touch” with two locations in Ft. Worth specializing in interior design and sold antiques that she acquired throughout travel to Europe. She loved traveling and did quite a bit when she was in her 50's, including a trip to Africa on a photography safari, multiple trips to Europe, Tahiti, Bermuda and the Caribbean.

After her retirement she enjoyed being with her family. She was treated like royalty on a Carnival Cruise for her 80th birthday and a surprise birthday party for her 90th birthday, where she got to visit with some close friends. She also enjoyed taking part in all of her granddaughters’ weddings. She also really enjoyed being a great-grandmother (GG) to her only great grandson.

She lived very independently for thirty years on two acres in Joshua, Texas. She took great pride in caring for her yard, garden and landscaping, riding her riding lawn mower and weed eating until it became too hard for her to maintain by herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Kloppe and husband, David Kloppe from Dripping Springs; son, Lee Thompson and wife, Susan Thompson from Fort Worth; three granddaughters, Tessa Comstock from Austin, Kristi Luce from Fort Worth, and Sarah Biggs from Fort Walton, FL and their families; and one great-grandson, William Andrew Luce.

She had a rich, successful and full life.

Her memorial will be on 1 p.m. January 4th, 2019 at Abundant Life Community Church/ Church Angels Funeral Home.
The address is 6301 Granbury Road, Fort Worth 76133 with a gathering to follow at the Blue Mesa Restaurant (612 Carroll Street FW 76107) for those who would like to attend.
