Ola M. McCoy was born on November 19, 1947 in Rosedale, MS to Ozell and Eugene McCoy, Sr. and raised in Clarksdale, MS. She was the oldest of seven children.

Ola accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship A.M.E. Church and remained a member there while attending Higgins High School, Clarksdale, MS and Coahoma Junior College.

While attending Coahoma Junior College, she met and married her husband Felton “PoBoy” Kelley they moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1968. They had two children, Shelia and Brian who she always used to say, her and the children grew up together in Chicago. One accomplishment she wanted in life was to love, be loved and have a family of her own. They resided on the southside of Chicago in neighborhood called Englewood. She loved being a mom, loved her family and friends. Ola and her husband worked hard to raise a family together until his untimely death in 2014. She moved to Arlington, Texas to live with her family until she passed.

She was a homemaker until her children were school age where she started her career at Sears Roebuck and Co. on the westside of Chicago. While working there, she created lots of lifelong friends to keep throughout her lifetime. Before the company closed their location, Ola landed a position at Zurich American Insurance company, where she worked there for 27 years until her early retirement in 2005.

Ola was a genuine woman with a big smile. She loved to cook for her family and friends, made the best cakes in the world. She would give you the clothes off her back and made sure you were taken care of no matter what situation you may have in life. She had close friends with over 50+ years of friendship. Loved the Lord and everyone in her path. Everyone in her circle took care of her too.

Ola was preceded in death by her husband, Felton R. Kelley, parents Ozell and Eugene, her brother Vic, and two sisters Rose Smith and Daisy Lee Jones.
