Obituary for Richard "Dick" Haila

Richard ‘Dick” Haila went to be with the Lord on February 2nd, 2023, at the age of 92. He was a loving Father and Grandfather and lived life to its fullest. Dick was born on February 6th, 1930, in Chicago Illinois to Bessie Barton and Christopher Haila. He was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 65 years Joan Haila who he loved dearly and spoke often of their reunion in Heaven. They were married in Chicago at the ages of 20 and 18 0n August 4th, 1950. Dick served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Pearl Harbor where he and Joan lived during the Korean War. After his service he taught painting at the Washburn Trade School in Chicago before he retired and moved to Sarasota, FL in 1993.
They had three sons together and two beautiful grandchildren. Dick brought joy to everyone that he met. He always had a smile on his face and his jolly attitude was truly infectious to everyone around him.

Dick is survived by his sons Jeff Haila and wife Lori Haila, John Haila, Rick Haila; the true joys of his life granddaughter Meghan Dressel and husband Caeleb Dressel, and grandson Danny Haila.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff at Legacy Oaks Azle Senior Living for all of your love, care, and support that you have given us.
Dick will be laid to rest with his beloved wife on March 3rd 2023 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the American Heart Association, the VA, or the Humane Society.
